HAPPY 2018!!!

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year. 2017 was challenging for many of us, and for me it was a difficult year personally. Looking back, I’m grateful for what those experiences taught me and for the people who supported me—my partner, family, friends, and all of you who read this blog. I’m excited for what 2018 will bring and glad to share this detox-style smoothie day to help you start the year feeling refreshed.

About the New Year’s Detox Day

Each New Year I share a recipe intended to support healthier habits. In past years I posted the Super Green Detox Salad and the Kale Detox Salad, and this year I’m offering a full day of smoothies designed to reset and energize you. I use the word “detox” loosely—your liver, kidneys, and digestive system handle detoxification naturally. Still, foods rich in nutrients, fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants can support those systems and help you feel better physically and mentally. There’s also a real placebo effect: when you know you’re nourishing your body, you often feel better.

Mindset matters. Approach any change in eating habits with self-compassion. Your worth is not tied to what you eat. If choosing nutritious meals is part of your self-care, do it from a place of love and respect for your body.

This plan includes four smoothies, each focused on different benefits for the day. Here’s the breakdown:

Morning Fire Smoothie | Well and Full | #cleanse #detox #recipe

Morning Fire Smoothie: This bright, digestive-focused smoothie features pineapple for bromelain, fresh ginger for soothing digestion, turmeric for anti-inflammatory support, banana for fiber, and coconut water for hydration. It’s designed to kickstart your digestive system and set the tone for a nourishing day.

Herbal Green Smoothie | Well and Full | #cleanse #detox #recipe

Herbal Green Smoothie: Think of this as a salad in a glass. It blends avocado for healthy fats, fresh mint to calm the stomach, fiber-rich pear, antioxidant-packed spinach, and coconut water to keep you hydrated.

Healthy Brain Smoothie | Well and Full | #smoothie #detox #recipe

Healthy Brain Smoothie: This smoothie emphasizes healthy fats important for brain function—hemp seeds and flax oil provide omega-3s. It also includes beets and blueberries for antioxidants and potential support for circulation. Note: beets give this blend a pronounced flavor; reduce the amount if you prefer a milder taste.

Calming Evening Smoothie | Well and Full | #smoothie #detox #recipe

Calming Evening Smoothie: Designed to help you wind down, this smoothie uses oats for tryptophan, walnuts for omega-3s, and bananas for vitamin B6 to support serotonin production. It’s a comforting, slightly indulgent-feeling drink that promotes relaxation before bed.

This full-day smoothie plan totals about 1,700–1,750 calories. If you need more calories, add snacks such as raw almonds or cashews, or whole fruits and vegetables like apples and carrots.

As always, consult your doctor before making any dietary changes.

Enjoy!
