I spent a few hours at the hair salon today getting my color touched up.

Ahhh, much better.
While I was at the salon I picked up my favorite shampoo and conditioner that I’ve raved about before.
It’s the Unite line, sulfate-free and free of many common irritants. It’s vegan, gluten-free, and sodium-free — qualities that fit my routine and keep my color looking fresh.
I also grabbed my favorite leave-in detangler, It’s a 10.
As the name suggests, it really is a miracle. A couple of sprays detangles the worst knots without leaving a heavy residue or weighing down fine hair. I reach for this every time.
All that salon time made me hungry, so I grabbed some Cinnamon Sugar Chickpea “Peanuts” made with peanut flour. If you don’t have peanut flour, you can try coconut or almond flour, or use an alternate caramelized roasted chickpea recipe instead.
For dinner I remade my Mango Balsamic Rice with Garbanzos & Mixed Vegetables recipe.
It makes great leftovers — cook once, eat twice.
From my last post about making things at home versus buying pre-made, I enjoyed reading your thoughts on what’s worth the time and what’s better bought. Different people prioritize convenience, cost, or taste differently — and often homemade ends up tasting better and being healthier.
Thanks for not thinking my lettuce-chopping tutorial was too silly. A few of you shared helpful tips for keeping lettuce crispy longer — much appreciated.
Dessert was No-Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Balls, with a higher-protein option.
Questions:
1. What’s on your agenda for the weekend?
I’ll be working, maybe meeting a friend, hopefully spending time with Skylar, fitting in workouts, and getting some quality kitchen time. I haven’t had much time to cook this week, so I’m hoping to catch up.
2. Have you ever left the salon with wet hair? Or tell me about your favorite hair products!
I do it all the time — I’m impatient and don’t want to sit for a blowout. After a long appointment I’d rather get on with my day; I can dry and flat iron my hair at home much faster. It might not always look exactly like the salon finish, but it works for me.
3. Do you like chickpeas? Or do you call them garbanzo beans?
I love chickpeas, though I have to watch my portion size because too many beans don’t always agree with me. I generally call them chickpeas, but sometimes say garbanzo beans — both are fine.
